Four arrested in Shah Alam for selling ganja online

SHAH ALAM: Police have crippled a ganja-selling syndicate with the arrest of four men and seizure of at least 6.5kg worth of the drug.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said police conducted an operation in the Glenmarie area at around 6.40pm on Sunday and arrested four men aged between 31 and 32.

"We also seized 6.53kg of ganja worth at least RM20,243. Based on our checks, the syndicate has been active for at least one year," he told reporters on Thursday (Jan 18).

He said that further checks revealed the syndicate accepted orders from buyers via the Telegram mobile phone application.

"Once they received payment, they would send out the drugs through a courier service. Our investigations also revealed that the syndicate had registered a company under the name ‘Pasir Berdengung’”, he said, adding that police also seized two cars and two motorcycles.

He said further investigations revealed that one of the suspects has a prior record for a drug-related offence.

"All four suspects have been remanded for seven days to help with further investigations. We are now trying to trace the source of the drugs," he said.
